As a Senior Business Analyst, you need to be aware of wide variety of BA tools and techniques and apply them successfully and independently when addressing any challenge or opportunity, regardless of the level of its complexity. Based on your knowledge and experience (6+ years), you need to be able to autonomously identify the actions required to get the job done so that you are able to deliver business value for any change initiative. Moreover, you would need to feel confident in guiding, advising, mentoring, and supervising co-workers so that they enrich their skills and grow their underlying competencies.  

Your Responsibilities:

  • Selecting the appropriate BA approach for complex initiatives and executing it smoothly.
  • Effectively managing difficult personalities on a team and resolving issues if they arise.
  • Clearly communicating concepts to stakeholders and verifying their understanding and approval.
  • Specifying and modelling requirements by using familiar organizational approaches.
  • Participating in strategic discussions and defining the scope of new initiatives. 
  • Guiding others on applying the right techniques, required activities, and producing the proper deliverables.
  • Sharing knowledge with peers on new techniques, best practices, and frameworks, i.e. helping in the development of the internal BA/PO community.
  • Advocating the adoption of an agile mindset and modern-day frameworks.

  • Glossary
  • Conceptual data model
  • Business process model
  • Use cases model
  • State diagrams

  • Taking part in the creation of formal deliverables, such as:
  • Vision and scope document
  • Software requirements specification

  • When acting in the role of a Senior Proxy Product Owner, you would also need to have adopted an agile mindset and be able to apply agile practices and lean thinking. Respect, courage, collaboration, continuous learning, customer focus, and value maximization are core characteristics you need to possess. A must have is the understanding and application of the agile BA principles of See the Whole, Think as a Customer, Analyze to Determine What is Valuable, Get Real Using Examples, Understand What is Doable, Stimulate Collaboration and Continuous Improvement, and Avoid Waste. 
  • Active participation in the Scrum ceremonies would be an important part of your work. You need also to be able to perform Scrum Master tasks in case of short absences or when such is not appointed in smaller initiatives.
  • You must possess experience and feel comfortable producing and defining:

  • Release and Iteration Plans
  • Minimal viable product
  • Story maps
  • Personas and User stories
  • Storyboards
  • Being able to manage a product backlog is a must have capability. While taking a major part during the backlog refinement sessions, you should also specify the clarified acceptance criteria so that the appropriate product backlog items are set to the Definition of Ready. Story decomposition and story elaboration are techniques which you would need to apply successfully in your work.

What you bring in:

  • University degree (Bachelor or Master) in IT or business-related discipline.
  • Knowledge of the globally recognized foundational standards of business analysis maintained by any of the following organizations: IIBA, BCS or PMI.
  • Knowledge and experience in agile frameworks such as Scrum or SAFe.
  • Knowledge and experience with different techniques to create models applicable for the respective audience, the required level of detail and selected BA approach.
  • Ability to manage (maintain, trace, prioritize) requirements.
  • Practice using backlog management systems.
  • Confidence and experience in maintaining effective communication with domain and implementation subject matter experts at different company levels and locations.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Personal accountability, ethics, and trustworthiness.
  • Adaptability to rapidly changing environment is a must.
  • Teamwork, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Fluent English (written and verbal)
  • Use of MS Office tools, e.g. Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint. 
  • Competitive advantage
  • Microsoft Azure DevOps experience.
  • Hands-on modelling and diagraming tools, e.g. Sparx Enterprise Architect, Aris, MS Visio.
  • Experience with prototyping tools, e.g. Figma, Sketch, InVision, Adobe XD.
  • Relevant professional certifications from a renowned organization, e.g. IIBA, BSC, PMI, Scrum Alliance, Scaled Agile.
  • Knowledge in iterative software development process frameworks such as RUP, OpenUP.
  • Knowledge in German language.
